Barbosa…man. What a scapegoat. His story is probably the saddest in football history. For the rest of his life, he was ridiculed, harassed, abused, everything in the book really, and because of a mistake in a game that consists of 10 other guys.
He couldn’t get serviced anywhere, and was turned down for interviews, appearances—no one gave him anything. He died miserable and penniless, all because of one little mistake.
Honestly, Roberto Carlos tying his shoe in 2006 during that free kick against France which led to the goal and Dunga with his shit terrible squad selecting (huge understatement) should have been much, much bigger scapegoats.
