This is going to feel strange, first game of the new season on a Friday night

Hull V Blackpool 7.45 KO

I think I’m going to pick up a few beers on my way home from work then put my feet up and watch the start of the new season.

On Sunday I’m off to West Ham’s home game against Cardiff (COYI)

I’m in the stand opposite the away end, right behind the goal, I shall wave.

I hope your journey isn’t too bad and I apologise that GaS think you are ALL a bunch of hooligans.  Enjoy your day, but too much wink

Family club of the year last season. nod

6 o’clock start, we have to collect the tickets from South Mimms services, then a police escort straight to the ground. Pretty standard.

Had to visit the Boleyn before you lot move into the Olympic bowl.

Think we’ll grab a draw and put in a good account of ourselves, I didn’t realise we haven’t lost on 14 of our last 16 opening days which isn’t a bad feat. Has all the makings of our first season in the Championship when we beat Forest who had an 8 month unbeaten home run, Earnie and Kavangh had put us 2-0 up after just 7 minutes.

And come on Coventry.

I’m really excited but everyone knows we’re going to struggle big time.

I know the first match of a season shouldn’t be of great importance but I really think ours is. Palace at home isn’t going to be easy but it’s one of our best chances to get 3 points. Last time we was in this league we didn’t win in our first 8 matches, this time we’ve got to start off better and get some momentum.

The German Bundesliga kicks off tonight too, B. Dortmund vs HSV. Live in 199 countries, the record for a Bundesliga match.

The UK isn’t one of those countries. Absolutely shameless.

Surely leaving it at 7 and saying clubs don’t have to fill their bench would be better?

a lot of league players have clauses in their contract for appearance fees even if their on the bench, it was costing teams fortunes to just put people on the bench

That would be unfair on teams that can’t afford to do so. Multi-ball is also not allowed this season which essentially means fans can just keep the ball if their team is winning.

Kevin Phillips is going to score goals this season for Blackpool, still know’s where the goal is. His only problem is keeping fit over the course of the season, needs someone working hard beside him

Does Barry Ferguson think he’s the direct replacement for Charlie Adam? Pass after pass that just went nowhere

We’ve got a decent first game of the season record but are almost useless at Turf Moor in recent years apart from the 7-4 win, we’ve been dicked on every time.
But this season looks like a fun one. If we can get someone to replce Danny Grahams goals i think we could aim for the play-offs. Our youngsters have a years more experience and we have filled some vital gaps in squad and even brought some back ups/competition to others.
But know us we will have a decent first half and then drop off after christmas. But i’ll be happy with a mid table position although if we play our cards right and keep suprising people as we did last year we could go further.

We’re up against Ipswich today, probably going to end up being a score draw, but I’ll be waiting for the last minute winner that we love to concede.

Dunno why but it feels odd with only two sides winning at home and tonne of 1-0 away wins.

Palace just conceded though, wonderful.

2 goal lead thrown away yet again. Oh well at least we didn’t lose.
Our form at Turf Moor makes this feels more like a win than points lost.

Heard a stat that we havent lost on open day since ‘06 (the famous Everton win, penalty after Chris Powell got hit in the face and lino gave a pelanty) So not too bad. However, it was just Sooo predictable that we’d drop the 2 goal lead.

Yeah thats a true stat. I’m still bitter about that game.
The doom mongerers are out in force already. But thats a good point a gainst a good side at a ground where we haven’t won at for a good few years.
