I have come to this a bit late, prompted by the GIF thread.

Messi makes a meal of that ‘push’ to the head IMO. we can argue all day about the symantics of how hard, etc but my initial reaction from the GIF was ‘that’s not what I want from the best player in the world”.

I think it’s DMD that says this too, the recent Barca v Real games are some of the worst adverts for the game. BOTH sides contribute to this feast of overacting, petty spats and stupidity. Mourinho is an incendiary element to the whole thing, but again both sides are capable of acting like 7 year old girls.

If you want to watch how a feud should be settled on a football pitch check out the Battle of Santiago as advertised on the Ramble

Not pretty, but I’d rather watch that than the histrionics of the current Classico match ups.

How have I never seen this before?? That is bloody brutal! They’d be facing assault charges in this day and age - and no doubt Hansen would be talking about how it was perfectly legal back in his day..

Maybe I should have said that that prick Mourinho is ruining football for me, the cunt that he is. Love Barca, but I can’t watch the Claisco’s (well can’t watch after Barca take the lead and control the game) because Mourinho’s Madrid resort to what they did last night every time. He has ruined the biggest game in club football and the sooner he fucks off the better.

The difference between Pepe and Busquets, besides a gulf in ability, is gamesmanship. Pepe looks to physically harm where as Busquets milks it for a hopeful booking. Neither in the true spirit of the game but I know which I’d prefer happen to me. Pepe needs a good hard GAA shoulder and to stop acting the fucking bollock.

There are very few GAA footballers who i would put up against Pepe. A lot of GAA players love to think they are hard, drinking a load of pints at the weekend goes to their head, but that’s for another time/

When Inter beat Barca in the Champions League i don’t think it was completely down to refereeing decisions, Mourinho set up to go through and it worked. Guardiola got his tactic wrong in that clash IMO.

It literally was down to refereeing decisions. Barca had a last minute goal wrongly disallowed - had it stood then Inter would have gone out.

hmmm You’re being serious? After the sending off, your complaining about a refereeing decision? :/

Shit balances itself out, more often than not. In the game, Sergio cheated, and in the end Barca had a goal disallowed. And how often have Real’s cheating antics ever resulted in anything except an embarassing loss and more awful publicity. There are exceptions of course, but it’s like managers always say. If the referee goes in at half time, and finds out he’s made an absolutely terrible decision - he’ll always, in some way, be looking for an opportunity to balance it out. It’s not exactly fair, but it’s true.

The ref got conned by Busquets. had he not gone down like he was shot holding his face, Motta wouldn’t have been sent off. That’s completely different to wrongly disallowing a legit goal.

Right, I’m going to respectfully bow out of this thread. I’ve said far too much and will only start annoying everyone if I haven’t already

I’m really disappointed that Mourinho continues to play Pepe - especially as he’s quite clearly nothing but a liability. You can’t be right in the head to go out physically harming other players - made even more moronic when the referee is 2 meters away, staring right at you. May be a blessing in disguise if he gets a ban - I’m not sure how they can’t after that incident, along with faining injury.

But as for Mourinho ruining football - come on… The football they’ve been playing this year is sublime. They’re averaging 4 goals a game, Ronaldo has 27, Benzema & Higuain have 17 each, they won all six Champions League group games averaging over 3 goals a game, and even though it was Barcelona they started with 3 strikers last night.

And as for the state of the Classico - anyone who watched last years ‘showpieces’ will know how much it has improved this season. I wouldn’t let the actions of one nutcase distort that.

Doesnt that make it even worse when they’ve been playing so well but still feel like they have to resort to dirty tricks against barcelona.

edit… ignore that, i read the rest of the thread and its more or less already been posted!

Should probably make a Barca Real thread so all the haters can moan about stuff there.

I’d love to see Bilbao in the EC next year, I guess if Levante start sliding down, they’re next in line. So yeah. Fuck Mourinho lol

this is doing the rounds on reddit at the moment.

nasty looking injury to Busquets. apparently he’s sliced his skin, just underneath his right knee to the bone.

Cue comments about him being a diver, etc.

Love him or hate him, this is pretty nasty.

Apparently it only needs stitches. That’s a relief, it looked like a horrible accident when it happened.

Barcelona down 2 goals at Osasuna.

Still have time to turn it around. With Barca in 40min they can easily hit you for 3 or 4.

To come back and beat a team that scored 8 goals against you in the 1st match is just massive.

Indeed. Second half, they were just clinging on for dear life. But their first half display was fantastic.

I know it’s been said almost every week, but if Real win tomorrow I can see a few bookies suspending betting on Real winning the title.

Just seen the highlights of the Barca game. They should have got something from that as they were murdering Osasuna in the second half but couldn’t find enough goals. Tello’s goal was absoloute class to get it in from that angle. Osasuna defended brilliantly and I think that’s Barca’s title challenge over IMO.

There’s no way Barca can catch up now, Real are just a machine-like winning team. If only there were 3 more La Liga clasicos before the end of the season….

I honestly think it would take ten. Have you seen Barca’s away form? My goodness it’s horrendous.

Do you think this would be considered a successful season at the end if Barca win the CL (which would be a tremendous achievement in itself and a record)?

I think it would be seen as one, yeah. The Barcelona fans would claim victory over Madrid - as the CL is clearly more prestigous to them than the league. For Madrid however, the league is far far more important - especially if they maintain the current margin over Barca. Win Win for both teams the way I see it.

By the scoreline, that Levante game looked great. Not close as Vallecano were 4-1 up but still. Were there any screamers?

As soon as I saw Ramos going in for that 50-50 I knew he was going to go for the player, could see it a mile away.

There was some absolutely dreadful refereeing in that game! Ruben appeared to get shown 2 yellows but no red, and Pepe got booked for simulation in an incident where he bloodied his lip haha.

Madness.

The way Ramos and Pepe play when they’re under pressure is truly laughable. As soon as he has to take some responsibility Ramos just boots people, a truly awful player. What was Pepe doing too, walking around showing everyone his bloody lip.. he’s can’t unbook you, you twat.

Come on Barca. I said last week, not on here, that Barca would still win the league. Obviously they haven’t won it yet but how much of a sickener would that be. If Barca win all the rest of their games, Madrid only need to lose 1 of their other games.

Edit: The reason I said it was because Real have been getting very lucky all season, decisions not going agaisnt them and scraping through in the second half when the other sides run out of steam.

All stems from the management losing theirs though, as is often the case with Mourinho teams.
