I. AM. LIVID.

Have come in here to specifically mention this…

Big thanks to the mention or the ‘Deck The Halls’ punfest, but it was very much a joint effort (he even started the whole thing too) with Ramble forum demigod BigDan. It was a Lennon-McCartney effort between the two.

Wait, Totti?

FUCK TOTTI.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, that was arguably a penalty. He was impeded by the sliding tackle.

And it was Grosso that was brought down/dived (depending on how you see it), not Totti.

I apologise for my irrationality.

Yes, all of that is true (except if you ask an Australian, in which case they’ll say he dived and to be honest it looked like he did), but simply I never liked Totti after that. Painful to watch after honestly dominating that game. My 13 year-old self at the time was swearing profusely at the screen while Totti ran off sucking his thumb before I legitimately cried myself to sleep at 2am.

Possible sour grapes, but my view of the man will always be clouded by that.

On the one hand it’s the sort of thing you feel you ought to remember; on the other hand its gets conflated with so many other “events” that it gets hard to distinguish them apart.

I didn’t get it but it made me feel a bit queasy afterwards.

No, show’s knowledge. I vaguely remember the story cos a.) I supported the club he played for & b.) I can remember the Emmanuelle jokes…

Didn’t get it until same time as JorJ though…

I got it after “sex on a snooker table”. I remember reading it in a FourFourTwo. IIRC it wasn’t at an Arsenal training camp it was in a hotel. The next morning he was greeted by staff with applause.

Apparently I suck at Twitter, so I dropped by to clarify that Portland Timbers have won 4 & drawn 1 (13 points from 15) at home since we started playing the Ramble theme tune over the PA (tannoy).

I’m a bit of a stickler for facts as I only enjoy the purest facts when I’m smoking my fact-pipe.

Fully appreaciate the Beck tribute at the end of the Ramble. Always nice to hear the boys exercise the vocal chords especially to such a favourite of mine. Wonderful stuff. Everything up till then was shit, mind.

Great episode Ramblers, slight correction though. Fabregas does not have the record streak from joining Barcelona. Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored in his 5 first games and shares the record with some Brazilian I can’t remember the name of.

I know Crouch is a lumbering sod, but he wasn’t climbing for the goal as I recall (unlike most of his other headers). I’ll happily stand corrected if anyone can link to a vid.

You will not believe the amount of unfair fouls that given against him. Used to drive me nuts.

In other news i left my bloody ipod at home so still no ramble for me. I was planning to sit out in the sun at lunchtime and everything.

I don’t think he was either. In that video is shows he just ran past and put the header in.

I, like Marcus, subscribe to the Barry Davies model of pronunciation; namely that every double L is pronounced ‘y’. So, Casiyas, Monteya and most importantly of all, Roger MIYA.

Barry Davies top hat

And you’re all right about Crouch’s goal, he didn’t commit a foul. It was another header either just before or after that most notably saw him climbing all over the United defender. Apologies top hat

I was under the impression ‘ll’ similar to a ‘j’ sound in Spanish (that might be a soft j[/anchorman]).  According to my (spanish speaking) ex gf anyway.

I’ve always disliked Totti, and after the spitting incident he’s on my blacklist.

Kudos on the Due South reference though.

I was speaking to a Mexican girl in Krakow, of all places, and she was telling me that a generic Spanish accent (especially with a soft, lisped ‘s’ that becomes more of an ‘eth’), was massively camp.  I can’t really tell to be honest but she was quite insistent.
