I love the Ramble and have done since June 2009 and it will always be a favourite BUT other podcasts are out there. So what are some of your favourites?
For me I listen to:
Phil & Phils perfect 10
The Basketball Jones
Adam Catterall

And in the past I did listen to the Scott Mills one before realizing he’s a moron.

I’ll have a look for the other thread then, thanks
And good shout with the bugle.
I did used to listen to football weekly before the ramble but I found the Ramble just a lot funnier and less regimented

I listen to a few others.

Football Related…
The Guardian Football Weekly;
FourFourTwo Insider (Australian version)
Stop! Hammer Time
The Whistleblowers (a very general and irreverent football podcast. Utterly hilarious at times).

Non-Football related…
The Onion Radio News
Spoonman
The History of Rome

And he’s a great host too, I remember him from TalkSport, used to love his show, but it got bumped for some quiz show. The lost show about the Philadelphia Experiment was immense.

Robin and Josie’s utter shambles have some cracking guests on there. The last 6 have been Tim Key, Terry Jones,Tim Minchin, Scroobius Pip, Billy Bragg and Dave Gorman pound
As does Nerdist podcast, however I haven’t heard of a lot of their guests because they’re yet to cross the atlantic.

Would be helpful if people put some description about what their recommended podcast is.

Just putting the names of shows in list form is not going to make many people think “I’ve got to try that!”

Just before Kim Jong-Il’s fuckeulogy as well, it’s a disgrace (although to be fair they couldn’t have known The Bugle was about to claim another victim). I hope they continue somehow, it and The Ramble are the only two podcasts I actually look forward to hearing, the rest are just useful distractions while travelling.

I’m a big fan of Utter Shambles but I wish Robin Ince didn’t keep talking over Josie Long and cutting her off.

Looking at their twitter feed It sounds like they are trying everything to keep it going. Perhaps the Gaurdian may be interested in taking them on?
I need to be hearing John Oliver’s voice on a frequent basis.

Just started listening to these podcasts and they are fascinating. The guys presenting it are knowledgeable and they dont jump to conclusions or force theories down your throat. Might consider the plus membership. I dont know how they get time to put out as many shows as they do.

That’s what I like about it too. There’s some crazy theories that get banded about on that podcast, so it’d be easy for them to go along with everything, or dismiss things out of hand. They’re quite balanced and some of the stories just plain give me the creeps. Especially the ones about the so-called ‘‘black-eyed children’’ and ‘‘shadowmen’’

I recommend The Danny Baker podcast from his Saturday morning radio show and The Daily Bacon both from 5live on the BBC.

Danny Baker’s show is quite random and doesn’t really have much of a point, they’re always discussing some obscure things like has anyone ever played against one team in the first half and a completely different team in the second half, has anyone got anything stuck in their house, has anyone ever had a radnom sportsperson, in kit, in their house, has anyone ever been injured walking out onto the pitch etc… and people phone in with their stories. It’s an entertaining hour and a half or so every weekend.

Richard Bacon always has a variety of interesting guests on his show and IMO he’s a decent interviewer, not afraid to challenge his guests. It’s great for me as an ex-pat as it keeps me up-to-date with a lot of the goings on back in the UK.

Have you ever been listening to them and fell asleep, giving you mental dreams (whilst there still playing). Happened to me last night.

I would never do that, I’m too much of a shitebag. If I’m listening to a creepy podcast such as that, I have the light on. I don’t want scary nightmares.

I listened to 3 episodes yesterday and was so paranoid about shadow people i had to put my lamp on to go to sleep. I listened to an episode from December where the guest speaker was the guy who had written a book on UFO sightings during war time. So interesting. I love the theory that these could be humans from the future who have mastered time travel and go back as tourists to witness our wars.

I find Doug Benson horrendously annoying. Yeah, we get it, you smoke pot. We’re not 14, we’re not impressed.

(He can be quite funny at times though.)

Next to the Ramble, Newstalk’s Off The Ball podcast is brilliant. Ken Early and Eoin McDevitt are great presenters. They go off on mad tangents and provide insight into alot of behind the scenes workings of football clubs. Sid Lowe, Graham Hunter, Jonathon Wilson, etc are regular guests and the hosts seem to get the best out of them.

Radiolab!

It’s quite sciency, although covers a broad range of topics. I’ve just started listening to it and it’s up there with the best of them. There are hundreds on iTunes and it’s free, so check it out. http://www.radiolab.org/  A good one I listened to recently is “Desperately Seeking Symmetry”
