A New Betting Thread - Competition (Put your virtual money where your mouth is)

When I gave up work to look after my little girl I organised a competition between me and my mates preditcting who would win sporting events through a calendar year (had a lot of time on my hands). Part of this comp was betting on 1 horse race a week using the points accrued in other predictions.

Anyway….... I am proposing this.

A Ramble Betting comp - Rules as follows;

0 - Everyone starts with a virtual £1,000
0 - You must post your bet PRIOR to the event (no in-play, it will get far too complicated)
0 - You must show the odds for your bet and where you got them from (link if you can)
0 - You must post the result and your ‘account staus’ after it has happened.

For example;
Arsenal to beat Leeds 3-0 £10 @ 8-1 at Ladbrooks

If Arse did win 3-0

I get £80 + stake so my account stands at £1,080

I hope this is clear enough (and simple enough), the forummer with the best virtual account at the end of the year (Olympics, Euro’s + much much more) wins a Ramble T-Shirt (if anyone from the Ramble reads this and agrees to it - if not then SFA).

We have loads of people with interests in loads of sports on here, so it could be fun (you could even win real money if you think a bet is good and do it in ‘real life’).  We should be able to police it amongst ourselves and call out any mistakes or ‘mistermeaners’

If you want in - do it. If not don’t and watch this thread drift out to page 77 of 178!

Only events or can we post bets for single matches? Can we bet multiple matches? I normally bet 3/4 games at once.

Right, I’m spreading out my bets at first I think. £25 going this way:

£5 - Jason Day to win any Major Championship in 2012 (Golf) - 7/1 - Potential Returns of £35 (+£5 stake)
£5 - New York Rangers to win the Stanley Cup (NHL) - 16/1 - Potential Returns of £80 (+£5 stake)
£5 - Ronnie O’Sullivan to retire in 2012 (Snooker) - 4/1 - Potential Returns of £20 (+£5 stake)
£10 - Germany to win Euro 2012 - 7/2 - Potential Returns of £35 (+£10 stake)

There’s a total potential return of £170 there, plus my £25 stake.

Having said that I would love, love this to happen. One of my lifes wishes is for aliens to be discovered - or better still visit - in my lifetime.

Sure. It also doesn’t help that I don’t know who Hackerspace Global Grid are. Also that I don’t believe there are aliens anywhere (for reasons which I won’t bother going into in this thread).
Still, it seemed like wonderful odds that couldn’t be found anywhere else.

By the way, is there any chance we could get this thread stickied for the year… anyone?...

That’s unlucky, 25/1 for an Aguero 1-0 seemed like a great shout.

I’ll go for £400 on Santos FC Youth to beat Inter Limeira Youth

1/4 at Bet365—http://www.bet365.com/home/FlashGen4/WebConsoleApp.asp?lng=1
